LASTMA ARRESTS 8 OFFICIALS …FOR RECEIVING BRIBE!

EIGHT OFFICIALS OF THE LAGOS STATE MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY, LASTMA, HAVE BEEN ARRESTED FOR COLLECTING BRIBE FROM MOTORISTS AND FOR OTHER CORRUPT PRACTICES. 

LAWMA IS BENT ON EDGING OUT BAD EGGS AMONG ITS THE OFFICIALS IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN ITS DIGNITY HENCE, ITS ARREST OF THESE OFFICERS ATTACHED TO THE AGEGE PEN CINEMA OFFICE OF THE AGENCY.

 TWO OF THE OFFICERS HAD ARRESTED COMMERCIAL MOTORISTS FOR VIOLATING TRAFFIC RULES AND DEMANDED MONETARY COMPENSATION BEFORE RELEASING THEIR VEHICLE. THE MOTORISTS THEREAFTER MADE COMPLAINTS TO LASTMA OFFICIAL NUMBERS AND THE OFFICERS WERE CAUGHT IN THE ACT OF RECEIVING THE BRIBE.

 THE GENERAL MANAGER, LASTMA, OLAWALE MUSA, SAID HAVING SET A STANDARD FOR ITSELF, THE AGENCY HAS RESOLVED TO BE ONE OF THE MOST DISCIPLINED, CREDIBLE AND EFFICIENT TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT INSTITUTION IN SUB SAHARAN AFRICA.

 MUSA SAID THE AGENCY IS STILL RESPONSIBLE FOR SANCTIONING MOTORISTS WHO RUN FOUL OF THE LAW.

 LASTMA HAD EARLIER DISMISSED 20 OFFICIALS FOR CORRUPT PRACTICES WHILE 15 OTHERS RECEVED WARNING LETTERS.
