Former US President, Bill Clinton, has cancelled his visit to Nigeria on the invitation of the National Peace Committee.
Clinton who was billed to deliver a goodwill message during the signing ceremony of the National Peace Accord in Abuja between February 12 and 13 said his visit could be politicized.
The planned trip was facilitated by the Kofi Annan Foundation and the National Peace Committee, NPC. In a statement by his spokesman Angel Urena, Clinton will however continue to support the NPC’s work towards a peaceful and fair election in Nigeria.
The statement also affirmed that Clinton will later speak with President Mohammadu Buhari and his main contender, Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
