AFRICANS PROTEST IN DC OVER LIBYAN SLAVERY

Africans in Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia have staged an anti-slavery protest to the Libyan Embassy in Virginia, USA.

They are demanding amongst other things, immediate repatriation of migrants held captive, proper investigation and prosecution of perpetrators, protection of human rights by the UN, EU, AU and the shut-down of the remaining detention camps by the Libyan government.

The protesters from different groups coming under the African lives matter, For the Love of Africa, Diaspora Rise up among other groups and individuals trooped to the embassy this morning singing freedom songs and slogans saying slavery is unacceptable in any part of the world, let alone Libya.

Bearing different placards with inscriptions such as Stop slavery in Libya, Libya stop the slave trade, AU, EU, US Rise up among others, the protesters are from Nigeria, Liberia, Guinea and other African countries.
