ACHEBE ON GOOGLE’S DOODLE!

One of Nigeria’s most popular novelist and indeed Africa’s most versatile story teller, Professor Chinua Achebe is being honored by technology giant, Google. In commemoration of his 87th birthday, Google has Achebe’s image as its doodle.

Doodle is an innovation of Google with which it celebrates People, achievements, awards and special days among others.

Chinua Achebe used his literary prowess to tell the Nigerian story to the world with his rich choice of words and of course African proverbs which he had come to be identified with. He was described as the father of modern African literature.

He won the Man Booker International prize and The Common wealth Poetry Prize among other local and International awards. Achebe’s books include, No longer at ease, Arrow of God, A man of the people and Things fall Apart, which is said to be his best known novel, one of the most read books in the world, translated  into more than 50 languages and sold over 10 million copies.

Chinualumogu Achebe was born on the 16th of November, 1930 and died in March 2013.

For more than 20 years, Adetola Kayode has trained and worked in the broadcasting world as a writer, reporter, news anchor and presenter. Presently, she plies her trade with Lagos Television, LTV, the foremost state owned Television station in Nigeria.

Outside of broadcasting, she has also been a constant pillar of support to several charities,non-governmental organisations and publications. As an adviser to some of these NGOs, she provides guidance and unpaid communication consulting towards the well-being and education of less privileged people across the country.
Travelling,singing and proofreading gives her joy and satisfaction.

Adetola is a 2016/2017 fellow of the United States of America's Hubert Humphrey Fellowship, an alumnus of the Radio Netherlands Training Centre, RNTC, The Netherlands, The Lagos State University, LASU {MCS} and The Polytechnic, Ibadan {OND/HND Broadcast Major}
